X Premium
X's paid subscription tier (formerly Twitter Blue) that bundles the blue checkmark, longer posts, edit tweet, algorithmic boost, and an ad revenue share for eligible accounts.
X Premium is the paid subscription product on X (formerly Twitter), originally launched as Twitter Blue in 2021 and rebranded after Elon Musk's acquisition. As of 2026, it sits at three tiers: Basic ($3/month), Premium ($8/month), and Premium+ ($16/month), with US pricing.
The features bundle into the subscription rather than the model anyone uses any single one of them. The headline ones: a blue checkmark next to your name, the ability to edit tweets within 30 minutes of posting, posts up to 25,000 characters (instead of 280), priority placement in replies and search, and access to Grok (X's AI chatbot) at higher tiers.
The most controversial benefit is the algorithmic boost. Premium subscribers' replies are surfaced higher in reply threads, regardless of engagement quality. Their posts get more weight in the For You algorithm. This was added in part to drive subscriptions and in part to offset spam, but the practical effect is a two-tier feed where free users compete on a quieter playing field.
The creator revenue share is a real draw for accounts that pull high impressions. Premium+ creators can earn a share of ad revenue from ads displayed in their reply threads, paid out monthly. Top creators have publicly reported earning $10,000+ per month; the median is much lower, often $50-200 for accounts with under 100k followers.
Who subscribes: high-volume posters who want the boost, creators chasing the revenue share, businesses that need long posts or thread analytics, and users who genuinely like the edit and bookmark organization features.
