SSI (Social Selling Index)

LinkedIn's proprietary 0-100 score that measures how well you build a professional brand, find the right people, engage with insights, and build relationships on the platform.

SSI, or Social Selling Index, is a LinkedIn-generated score between 0 and 100 that rates your activity across four pillars: establishing your professional brand, finding the right people, engaging with insights, and building relationships. You can check your own score at linkedin.com/sales/ssi.

Each pillar contributes 25 points. "Professional brand" rewards a complete profile with multimedia, posts, and articles. "Finding the right people" rewards searches, profile views, and use of advanced filters. "Engaging with insights" rewards reactions, comments, shares, and InMail responses. "Building relationships" rewards quality connections, especially with decision-makers.

LinkedIn updates SSI daily. A score above 70 puts you in the top few percent of users in your industry. Sales Navigator subscribers tend to score higher because the product is designed around the same activities SSI measures.

SSI is not a direct ranking input for who sees your posts, but the underlying behaviors it tracks (regular posting, meaningful comments, expanding a network of relevant people) do influence reach. Treating SSI as a scoreboard rather than a goal works best. If you optimize for thoughtful content, real conversations, and a sharp network, the score climbs on its own.

Many sales teams use SSI as a leading indicator for rep activity. It is imperfect (you can game it by liking everything that moves) but useful as a directional signal.
